A warmest welcome to all foreign friends and lovers of Cane Corso who wish to visit the Contado del Molise web site.

The contents of our site derive from a long-lasting and tiresome research, as well as breeding experiences compared with actual and real users of Corso Dogs.

We have patiently collected, studied and elaborated many documented evidences about the day-to-day life of our Dog, for several years, and this precious research is now available on our site.

Our firm belief is that a real “knowledge and awareness” of our Dog could only be obtained through a very close and careful examination of the experienced life of our Dog (its History!). Our efforts will thus be useful to those who really care for preserving this zootechnical and cultural heritage.

We are publishing (and so will do for the future) a great number of witnesses, documents, iconographic images, photos of rustic subjects (ancient, old and modern), opinions from dog lovers as well as outstanding ethologists and scholars. Several news which may interest people who are fond of dogs – particularly Cane Corso – are being collected. There is such a plenty of documents in our hands that subsequent integrations will be essential. The present contents of our site will therefore evolve in the future, gradually expanding to new information and initiatives.

We have mostly adopted a simple way of speaking in order to meet all kind of people. If required, the different items will be discussed, from a more scientific and technical point of view.

Since Cane Corso have always lived “with the man and for the man”, we investigated some aspects of their day-to-day life connected to human habits of the past, examining the social-economic context in which this Dog has been living.

We wish to apologize whether the translation into English (effected with great efforts by some dear friends) does not show you the real meaning of some familiar expressions of our language. It will contain – no doubt – a lot of mistakes, but we have done our best, and do hope you will understand this.

We do not consider ourselves unrealistic: we just maintain an holistic[1] idea of dogs. Our firm and reiterated intention is therefore that of keeping and restoring the original functions of Cane Corso, which have been polluted by cross-breeding experiments or by selective distortions. These useless attempts cannot absolutely help to restore the real role of this Dog, which is still precious as it was in the past.
