Dr. Flavio Bruno
· ● Is a veterinarian, he was born in Molise (south italian region) in1958 · ● Is a researcher of zootechnics, zoognostic and molossians · ● Is a passionate dog lover and breeder of Cane Corso · ● He has been carrying out researches on the Traditional Cane Corso (Italian Molossian) for more than 25 years, by studying its history and its functional morphology · ● He has been breeding Cane Corsos for about 15 years · ● He is inspired by the principle of the Great Masters of the Love of Dogs, according to which the beauty of dogs lies in their functional character (function makes type). He firmly believes that dog shows should aim at the zootechnical assessment of subjects (health, genetics and character), rather than at a competition based on mere aestheticism. · ● At the beginning of the 80s, with other dog lovers, he was active for the acknowledgement of the Cane Corso as an Italian Dog Breed. As he considers that the breed’s standard “is incomplete and doesn’t meet the morphologic and functional requirements of the Cane Corso as it has come down from history and tradition”, and in disagree with the subsequent breeder’s choices, he carried on its commitment for the safeguard of the traditional Cane Corso, by restoring and saving a number of ancient stocks and bloodlines from extinction.
